Scenario:
Philip Monrell, souffrant de graves troubles psychiques, vient de s'échapper de l'hôpital où il était en traitement. Il retourne en Angleterre, revoit son cousin, Ward Andrews, reprend en main l'entreprise familiale et se marie avec Stella Bergen. Mais sa jalousie et sa paranoïa le fait soupçonner sa femme d'avoir une relation affective avec le sympathique Andrews qui l'aime secrètement.
